Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the gained 0.52%, while the index added 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:), which rose 3.08% or 38.55 points to trade at 1,288.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:) added 3.05% or 222.00 points to end at 7,496.10 and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was up 2.57% or 32.75 points to 1,305.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.46% or 2.60 points to trade at 103.10 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) declined 1.63% or 7.05 points to end at 425.45 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 1.30% or 47.20 points to 3,592.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.05% to 1,288.70, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.79% to settle at 7,493.10 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.92% to close at 18,765.35.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.50% to 103.15 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.16% to settle at 898.45 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.12% to 233.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1071 to 806 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1842 fell and 1626 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.59% to 19.94 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.67% or 11.30 to $1,672.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.78% or 1.51 to hit $83.25 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.55% or 1.42 to trade at $89.93 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.19% to 79.80, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 79.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 109.77.
