India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.51%
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.51% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 7.82% or 68.80 points to trade at 948.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 3.17% or 192.50 points to end at 6,266.90 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) was up 2.93% or 23.30 points to 818.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 1.97% or 87.65 points to trade at 4,371.10 at the close. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) declined 1.48% or 17.50 points to end at 1,168.55 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was down 1.24% or 22.75 points to 1,805.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 7.88% to 948.15, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 3.27% to settle at 6,268.80 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 2.52% to close at 12,730.10.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.89% to 4,373.00 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 1.05% to settle at 1,805.75 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.56% to 2,487.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1138 to 680 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1906 rose and 1304 declined, while 156 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.21% to 16.86.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.21% or 20.55 to $1,679.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 5.22% or 5.21 to hit $94.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 5.00% or 5.35 to trade at $101.57 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 79.83, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 81.32.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 106.96.
