India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.33%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the gained 0.33%, while the index added 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.86% or 31.25 points to trade at 674.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) added 4.72% or 18.60 points to end at 412.65 and Coal India Ltd (NS:) was up 4.59% or 10.25 points to 233.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.49% or 20.10 points to trade at 788.60 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.02% or 53.95 points to end at 2,614.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.51% or 18.35 points to 1,200.90.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.27% to 103.45, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.24% to settle at 1,913.40 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.04% to close at 885.35.

The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.53% to 788.20 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.08% to settle at 2,611.90 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.52% to 1,200.70 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1317 to 527 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2257 rose and 1054 declined, while 120 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.30% to 19.32.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.95 to $1,722.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.26% or 0.23 to hit $87.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.21% or 0.20 to trade at $93.17 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.68% to 82.19, while EUR/INR rose 0.71% to 81.24.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 111.29.
