India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.28%
Budrigannews.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.28%, while the index climbed 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:), which rose 2.44% or 11.20 points to trade at 469.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) added 2.25% or 3.25 points to end at 147.60 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was up 2.07% or 15.40 points to 759.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nestle India Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.59% or 324.80 points to trade at 20,063.50 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:) declined 1.20% or 11.20 points to end at 921.75 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.06% or 8.85 points to 829.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.84% to 1,065.05, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.66% to settle at 113.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.63% to close at 171.95.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.82% to 20,020.60 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.16% to settle at 921.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.13% to 828.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1037 to 863 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1937 rose and 1470 declined, while 143 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was unchanged 0.02% to 12.89.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.32% or 5.80 to $1,819.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.94% or 0.71 to hit $76.10 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.87% or 0.70 to trade at $81.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 82.48, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 87.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 103.39.
