Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.13%, while the index added 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which rose 3.03% or 135.40 points to trade at 4,605.20 at the close. Meanwhile, JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) added 1.45% or 10.30 points to end at 718.55 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was up 1.43% or 7.70 points to 547.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.24% or 130.70 points to trade at 3,903.30 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) declined 1.23% or 33.10 points to end at 2,652.35 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:) was down 1.10% or 2.40 points to 215.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:) which rose 1.44% to 607.75, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.41% to settle at 6,779.60 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.31% to close at 4,419.15.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.24% to 215.15 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.66% to settle at 1,044.15 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.54% to 842.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1052 to 830 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1764 rose and 1612 declined, while 124 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.44% to 14.04.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 2.45 to $1,737.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.69% or 1.37 to hit $79.58 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.97% or 1.74 to trade at $86.62 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 81.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 84.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 107.05.
