Identification in the US is postponed until 2025
Budrigannews.com – Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it will put off until May 2025 the enforcement of regulations requiring Americans to obtain new identification cards before they can board airplanes or enter a federal building.
In April 2021, the department extended the “REAL ID” enforcement deadline until May 2023. Although federal standards for issuing identification cards were approved by Congress in 2005, implementation has been repeatedly delayed.
“To address the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the ability to obtain a REAL ID driver’s license or identification card,” the Department of Homeland Security stated of the new delay.
