How US will allocate 55 billion to Africa
Budrigannews.com – Jake Sullivan, the White House’s national security adviser, told reporters on Monday that the United States intends to invest $55 billion in Africa over the course of the next three years.
According to Sullivan, the funding is being distributed in close collaboration with Congress and will be distributed to “a wide range of sectors to tackle the core challenges of our time.”
It would appear that most of the money comes from programs and budgets that were already announced.
The following is what the White House has said so far regarding the destination of the $55 billion:
The White House announced on Tuesday that the Biden-Harris administration has invested and pledged nearly $20 billion in health programs in Africa.

This includes $11.5 billion for HIV/AIDS treatment; more than $2 billion for malaria treatment; more than $2 billion for reproductive health, family planning, and maternal and child health; and more than $2 billion to deal with COVID-19’s effects on health, humanity, and the economy.
Additionally, the administration intends to request $4 billion from Congress for African healthcare workers, investing $1.33 billion annually from 2022 to 2024.
The administration has committed at least $1.1 billion to African-led efforts to support conservation, climate adaptation, and energy transitions since January 2021.
