How is Russian McDonald’s doing after brand change
Budrigannews.com – Since McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:) Russians will now have access to an alternative from the “Big Hit,” the burger chain’s successor, starting next year. The Russian restaurant chain closed its Russian locations in March.
On Monday, Russian fast food chain Vkusno & tochka, which means “Tasty & that’s it,” announced that the Big Hit, which comes with a new signature sauce, will be available starting in February. Additionally, a product that is comparable to the McDonald’s Happy Meal will be returning as the “Kids’ Combo.”
After Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine in February, McDonald’s closed its Russian restaurants and eventually sold them to Alexander Govor, a local licensee, who launched the new brand in June.
Oleg Paroev, the chief executive officer of Vkusno & tochka, stated that the business had resolved issues with its supply chain and was expanding its share of a market that was previously dominated by foreign chains.

Vkusno & tochka are restricted in their use of colors and products. Paroev explained that it can no longer use McDonald’s-style sauce or serve Big Macs.
Paroev stated, “(The Big Hit) has its own sauce, a slightly different composition, a different layout of ingredients, but it is very good in terms of quality and taste.”
“We hope that Russian consumers will appreciate the Big Hit and that it will become as much of a Vkusno & tochka symbol as the Big Mac is of McDonald’s,” the company stated.
Govor has acquired the Russian operations of the Finnish packaging company Huhtamaki as well as a logistics company that will be rebranded as “Logistics & that’s it” since acquiring the McDonald’s restaurants in Russia.
He said on Monday that while Vkusno & Tochka might try to find a partner to produce children’s toys for the Kids’ Combo, which currently includes a free book, his appetite for mergers and acquisitions was satisfied for the time being.
On Monday, meat producer Miratorg and Vkusno & Tochka announced that they had reached an agreement to construct a factory in 2023 to supply the chain with potato wedges and chips. Due to a potato shortage this year, some Vkusno and tochka restaurants were forced to eliminate fries from their menu.
Govor stated, “We were simply forced to do this.” We were looking for partners because some of our suppliers’ prices have doubled since February, including for potatoes.
