Budrigannews.com – Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) of Hong Kong placed an order for 15 Boeings on Friday (NYSE:). 737-9 aircraft, according to a statement from the company.
The statement was made ahead of a signing ceremony in Hong Kong between Wong Cho Bau, chairman of Greater Bay Airlines, and Stan Deal, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
The statement added that the agreement includes a “commitment” from Boeing for five 787 Dreamliners to support GBA’s plans for international long-haul services.
With flights to Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, and Seoul, GBA, which debuted last year, operates a fleet of three 737-800 aircraft.
In addition, the statement stated that “the airline also plans to bring in a number of additional 737-800s to meet its expansion needs before the arrival of the 737-9.”
Stanley Hui, the young airline’s CEO, had stated this year that he planned to expand the airline’s fleet as travel picks up after years of COVID-19 restrictions.
