Google opposed the antitrust lawsuit
Budrigannews.com – (NASDAQ) Alphabet Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., asked a federal court late on Monday to dismiss the 2020 lawsuit filed by the U.S. Justice Department against it. The suit alleged that Google had broken antitrust laws in order to maintain its position of dominance in the search industry.
Google sealed documents explaining why it requested summary judgment. The company stated that the lawsuit was “deeply flawed” and “relies on dubious antitrust arguments” when it was filed. It argued that the quality of its search product was the reason for its overwhelming market share, which allowed “google” to become a verb meaning “search,” and that its efforts to promote search were entirely legal.
