Budrigannews.com – Alphabet (NASDAQ:) was the target of a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Justice Department. According to a court document, Google was sued on Tuesday for allegedly abusing its dominance over the digital advertising industry.
In its antitrust complaint, the government stated, “Google has used anticompetitive, exclusionary, and unlawful means to eliminate or severely diminish any threat to its dominance over digital advertising technologies.”
The lawsuit, which alleges that Google’s methods for acquiring or maintaining its dominance violate antitrust law, is the second federal antitrust complaint filed against the company. The search monopoly issue is the focus of the lawsuit filed by the Justice Department against Google in 2020, which is scheduled to go to trial in September.
The department joined eight states in filing a lawsuit on Tuesday, including California, Google’s home state.
