Global hedge fund reports are disappointment
Budrigannews.com – In the final session before the new year, Reuters reported on Friday that global hedge funds are expected to experience their lowest return in 14 years.
In 2022, asset prices have been significantly impacted by aggressive interest rate hikes and other macroeconomic headwinds. However, according to Reuters, some hedge funds will outperform in 2022 if they use macro-focused strategies to put money into commodities and currencies.
The publication discovered, based on Preqin’s investment data, that fund returns have decreased by 6.5 percent this year, the largest decline since 2008, when they fell by 13%.
According to Reuters, which cited data from HFR, macro-focused funds earned 8.2% through November, while equity-hedged and event-driven strategies lost 9.7% and 4.7%, respectively. Additionally, activist funds fell 13.8%.
On the other hand, they said that because of the inflationary environment, trend-following strategies worked this year.
