Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.34%
Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Software and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.34%, while the MDAX index added 0.05%, and the TecDAX index added 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn), which rose 2.37% or 1.70 points to trade at 73.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) added 1.71% or 3.15 points to end at 187.35 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) was up 1.43% or 0.24 points to 17.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn), which fell 2.67% or 4.00 points to trade at 145.90 at the close. Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) declined 2.33% or 0.93 points to end at 39.04 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was down 2.29% or 4.64 points to 197.76.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 4.98% to 22.34, K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was up 4.94% to settle at 33.99 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which gained 3.48% to close at 173.75.
The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was down 3.48% to 99.70 in late trade, Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which lost 3.34% to settle at 34.98 and Deutsche Wohnen AG (ETR:DWNG) which was down 3.12% to 27.34 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 4.98% to 22.34, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was up 2.51% to settle at 25.73 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which gained 1.60% to close at 88.65.
The worst performers were S&T AG (ETR:SANT1) which was down 2.95% to 15.78 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 2.81% to settle at 48.50 and Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 2.48% to 87.46 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 357 to 319 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.33% or 0.93 to 39.04. Shares in LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.48% or 3.60 to 99.70. Shares in K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.94% or 1.60 to 33.99. Shares in Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.34% or 1.21 to 34.98. Shares in Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) rose to 3-years highs; up 3.48% or 5.85 to 173.75. Shares in Deutsche Wohnen AG (ETR:DWNG) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.12% or 0.88 to 27.34. Shares in Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) rose to 3-years highs; up 2.51% or 0.63 to 25.73.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.54% to 27.46.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.22% or 4.40 to $1,980.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.99% or 3.01 to hit $103.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.34% or 3.50 to trade at $108.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 99.92.
