Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 2.48%
Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Retail, Chemicals and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.48%, while the MDAX index fell 2.05%, and the TecDAX index declined 3.00%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG), which rose 0.79% or 0.42 points to trade at 53.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) fell 0.18% or 0.12 points to end at 66.18 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) was down 0.30% or 0.18 points to 60.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which fell 10.37% or 4.81 points to trade at 41.56 at the close. Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) declined 6.98% or 4.00 points to end at 53.30 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) was down 5.68% or 2.21 points to 36.72.
The top performers on the MDAX were Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which rose 0.69% to 58.26, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) which was up 0.42% to settle at 96.02 and Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which gained 0.25% to close at 24.26.
The worst performers were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 6.26% to 31.73 in late trade, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which lost 4.53% to settle at 110.75 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 4.34% to 78.40 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which fell 0.13% to 30.30, Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 0.42% to settle at 90.20 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which lost 0.42% to close at 2.83.
The worst performers were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was down 6.98% to 53.30 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 5.56% to settle at 373.50 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 5.22% to 22.87 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 567 to 118 and 80 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 14.14% to 27.21.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.64% or 12.45 to $1,935.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.65% or 1.71 to hit $102.08 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.63% or 1.77 to trade at $106.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP rose 1.03% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.65% at 101.27.
