Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 2.43%
Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Retail and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 2.43% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index lost 3.57%, and the TecDAX index fell 3.91%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn), which rose 3.18% or 2.18 points to trade at 70.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) added 0.77% or 1.05 points to end at 138.25 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) was up 0.59% or 0.30 points to 51.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER), which fell 12.47% or 4.74 points to trade at 33.28 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) declined 7.46% or 26.70 points to end at 331.00 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) was down 6.81% or 1.82 points to 24.83.
The top performers on the MDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which rose 1.02% to 2.77, Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 203.00 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) which lost 0.08% to close at 97.40.
The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 12.48% to 12.48 in late trade, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which lost 8.92% to settle at 7.52 and Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which was down 7.77% to 206.40 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which rose 1.02% to 2.77, Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which was down 0.33% to settle at 42.22 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which lost 0.38% to close at 28.70.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was down 8.34% to 39.76 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 7.88% to settle at 9.26 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 7.68% to 23.67 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 649 to 68 and 45 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.81% or 1.82 to 24.83. Shares in Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 12.48% or 1.78 to 12.48. Shares in Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.77% or 17.40 to 206.40. Shares in CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) fell to 3-years lows; falling 8.34% or 3.62 to 39.76. Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.88% or 0.79 to 9.26.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 13.85% to 30.17 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.30% or 43.05 to $1,832.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.69% or 0.83 to hit $121.50 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.91 to trade at $122.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.71% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.77% at 104.81.
