Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.23%
Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Technology and Media sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.23% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 2.01%, and the TecDAX index added 1.63%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which rose 6.21% or 1.83 points to trade at 31.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) added 5.22% or 3.36 points to end at 67.76 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) was up 4.42% or 1.20 points to 28.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn), which fell 2.34% or 0.21 points to trade at 8.95 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1Gn) declined 1.26% or 2.20 points to end at 172.70 and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) was down 0.81% or 1.20 points to 146.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 6.63% to 3.33, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was up 6.44% to settle at 11.24 and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which gained 6.43% to close at 44.69.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 8.29% to 25.12 in late trade, Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which lost 7.10% to settle at 116.50 and Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which was down 4.92% to 6.96 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which rose 9.20% to 16.85, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was up 7.81% to settle at 23.46 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 5.47% to close at 45.54.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 8.29% to 25.12 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which lost 2.61% to settle at 22.40 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was down 0.81% to 17.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 459 to 214 and 94 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.47% to 23.14 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 1.15 to $1,813.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.41% or 1.28 to hit $91.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.09% or 1.05 to trade at $97.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.12% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.32% at 104.85.
