Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.88%
Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Chemicals and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.88%, while the MDAX index gained 1.26%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.04%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p), which rose 3.67% or 4.80 points to trade at 135.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) added 3.55% or 0.29 points to end at 8.34 and Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:PSHG_p) was up 3.48% or 2.34 points to 69.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG), which fell 14.41% or 6.30 points to trade at 37.43 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) declined 8.15% or 2.22 points to end at 25.02 and Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) was down 2.92% or 3.10 points to 102.96.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which rose 10.34% to 146.25, Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which was up 7.90% to settle at 6.55 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which gained 7.47% to close at 10.50.
The worst performers were Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was down 7.38% to 25.60 in late trade, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which lost 4.10% to settle at 40.91 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 2.78% to 2.56 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which rose 5.99% to 60.15, Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which was up 3.35% to settle at 48.40 and Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which gained 3.12% to close at 76.02.
The worst performers were Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was down 7.38% to 25.60 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which lost 5.95% to settle at 21.49 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 2.78% to 2.56 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 454 to 226 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) fell to 5-year lows; down 14.41% or 6.30 to 37.43. Shares in Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 8.15% or 2.22 to 25.02. Shares in Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.38% or 2.04 to 25.60. Shares in Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.38% or 2.04 to 25.60.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.41% to 24.38 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.94% or 33.35 to $1,752.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.46% or 0.45 to hit $96.81 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.09 to trade at $101.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 106.36.
