German gas storage operators full of optimism

Budrigannews.com – On Tuesday, operators of German gas storage facilities stated that there is no possibility of a shortage this winter and expressed optimism that there will not be supply issues next winter as a result of decreasing consumption.
According to the INES German gas storage system operators association, it would be possible to refill facilities for the 2023–2024 cold season even if Russian pipeline deliveries were to completely cease and liquefied imports (LNG) were to decrease.
It added, “No shortage is anticipated for this winter.” INES stated, “There will not be a gas shortage in Germany even with the occurrence of risk factors and extremely low temperatures.”
Over ninety percent of storage facilities are still full. They must be forty percent full by the beginning of February, but because of the mild weather, many facilities are even able to increase their fill levels on many days.
Last week, the head of Germany’s network regulator said that gas was used significantly less in the 52nd week of 2022 than in previous years, with consumption down 30% from the average over the previous four years.
