Georgia Completes Probe into Trump Case

Budrigannews.com – A court filing on Monday indicated that the Georgia special grand jury’s investigation into whether former President Donald Trump and his associates illegally sought to interfere in the state’s 2020 U.S. presidential election results has issued its final report; however, it is still unknown whether criminal charges will be brought against them.
Now that the work of the grand jury has been completed, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney issued an order dissolving it and scheduling a hearing on January 24 to determine whether or not the report will be made public. McBurney stated in the order that the jurors suggested releasing their findings.
The special grand jury, which was set up at the request of Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney, was able to issue subpoenas but not indictments. Even though the jury’s report may contain recommendations, Willis will ultimately decide whether to file charges against Trump or anyone else.
Soon after a January 2021 phone call in which Trump, a Republican, urged top election officials to “find” enough votes to overturn Democrat Joe Biden’s statewide victory, Willis, a Democrat, opened a criminal investigation.
Numerous state officials, including Georgia Governor Brad Raffensperger, as well as important Trump advisers like U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and attorney Rudy Giuliani testified before the grand jury, many of whom attempted to revoke their subpoenas unsuccessfully.
In addition to Trump allies who supported a plan to appoint alternate electors in an effort to deliver Georgia’s electoral votes to Trump rather than Biden in the Electoral College process that determines the outcome of presidential elections, prosecutors have informed Giuliani that he is a target and could face criminal charges.
On Monday, a request for clarification was sent to a Trump spokesperson, who did not immediately respond. Trump has denied any wrongdoing in Georgia and has maintained falsely that widespread voter fraud contributed to his defeat in the 2020 election.
A request for clarification was made, but a spokesperson for Willis’s office did not immediately respond.
One of several civil and criminal investigations that posed a threat to Trump and his circle was the one in Georgia. Trump’s actions following the 2020 election and his retention of classified materials after leaving the White House in 2021 are the subject of separate investigations by the Justice Department.

Letitia James, the Democratic Attorney General of New York, has filed a lawsuit against Trump, his children, and his business, alleging that they deceived insurers and banks about the true value of his assets. A criminal investigation is being conducted in parallel by Manhattan prosecutors. In a New York court last month, his real estate company, The Trump Organization, was found guilty of tax fraud.
