FTX’s Bankman-Fried awaiting extradition trial in Bahamas
Budrigannews.com – Previous FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Seared, who has to deal with extortion penalties in the US over the breakdown of the bankrupt digital currency trade, is supposed to show up in court in the Bahamas on Tuesday, an individual acquainted with the matter said.
Another person with knowledge of Bankman-Fried’s plans told Reuters that he had decided not to fight extradition to New York, where federal prosecutors have charged him with using stolen FTX customer funds to repair losses at his hedge fund, Alameda Research. The hearing would take place after the person told Reuters about this decision.
A spokesperson for the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office and Bankman-Fried’s attorney did not immediately respond to inquiries for comment.

After Reuters and other media outlets reported over the weekend that Bankman-Fried had decided to agree to extradition, he appeared in court on Monday in Nassau. However, Bankman-Fried’s Bahamas lawyer said during the tumultuous hearing that his client wanted to see the US indictment against him before leaving the Caribbean nation.
