French Budget Minister reaffirms special tax plans for biggest companies

(Reuters) – French Budget Minister Laurent Saint-Martin reaffirmed on Thursday special tax plans for the country’s biggest companies, although he did not spell out precise details, as France targets a 60 billion euro ($66.2 billion) budget squeeze for next year.
Saint Martin added that the new government’s wealth tax proposals would affect 0.3 percent of French households overall, as the government aims to protect the country’s lower income and middle classes despite these likely tax increases.
“Restoring public finances is going to have to be everybody’s business,” Saint-Martin told France 2 TV.
He added that the government’s current budget forecasts were based on French inflation standing at 1.8 percent in 2025.
