France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.60%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.71%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA), which rose 7.30% or 0.82 points to trade at 12.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) added 7.02% or 1.58 points to end at 24.08 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was up 6.10% or 1.38 points to 24.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which fell 2.51% or 28.00 points to trade at 1,085.50 at the close. Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) declined 2.47% or 0.27 points to end at 10.74 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) was down 1.37% or 2.45 points to 176.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which rose 7.91% to 16.79, Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA) which was up 7.30% to settle at 12.02 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which gained 7.02% to close at 24.08.
The worst performers were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) which was down 2.51% to 1,085.50 in late trade, Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) which lost 2.47% to settle at 10.74 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) which was down 1.37% to 176.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 343 to 202 and 83 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.29% or 4.95 to $1,741.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 5.35% or 5.27 to hit $103.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 4.95% or 4.98 to trade at $105.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP fell 0.93% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 106.96.
