France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 2.67%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 2.67% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index lost 2.82%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 2.10% or 2.35 points to trade at 114.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Danone SA (EPA:DANO) added 1.08% or 0.57 points to end at 53.22 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was up 0.91% or 0.10 points to 10.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 8.13% or 4.87 points to trade at 55.04 at the close. Renault SA (EPA:RENA) declined 7.40% or 1.95 points to end at 24.39 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) was down 5.72% or 1.98 points to 32.53.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Thales (EPA:TCFP) which rose 2.10% to 114.00, Danone SA (EPA:DANO) which was up 1.08% to settle at 53.22 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) which gained 0.91% to close at 10.90.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 25.26% to 7.81 in late trade, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which lost 18.31% to settle at 2.32 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was down 14.84% to 3.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 521 to 67 and 64 ended unchanged.
Shares in Valneva (EPA:VLS) fell to 52-week lows; down 25.26% or 2.64 to 7.81. Shares in Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) fell to all time lows; losing 18.31% or 0.52 to 2.32. Shares in Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) fell to 52-week lows; losing 14.84% or 0.66 to 3.80.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.40% or 44.95 to $1,830.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.85% or 1.02 to hit $121.69 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 1.10 to trade at $123.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.79% at 104.83.
