France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 2.21%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Oil & Gas and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 2.21%, while the SBF 120 index lost 2.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which rose 2.39% or 2.22 points to trade at 95.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 2.27% or 0.43 points to end at 19.39 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was up 1.44% or 1.40 points to 98.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which fell 5.15% or 7.82 points to trade at 144.14 at the close. Kering SA (PA:PRTP) declined 4.70% or 27.50 points to end at 557.10 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was down 4.53% or 15.80 points to 332.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which rose 2.39% to 95.22, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which was up 2.27% to settle at 19.39 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (PA:GTT) which gained 1.52% to close at 106.60.
The worst performers were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was down 6.25% to 19.12 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which lost 6.00% to settle at 39.94 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which was down 5.42% to 36.32 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 431 to 131 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.44% or 1.40 to 98.38. Shares in Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (PA:GTT) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.52% or 1.60 to 106.60. Shares in Aperam SA (AS:APAM) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.42% or 2.08 to 36.32.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.13% or 2.50 to $1,925.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.53% or 2.58 to hit $99.38 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.33% or 2.49 to trade at $104.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 99.52.
