France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.66%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Financials and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.66%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.65%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which rose 1.14% or 0.23 points to trade at 20.39 at the close. Meanwhile, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 0.12% or 0.08 points to end at 68.08 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was down 0.16% or 0.16 points to 101.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 4.05% or 1.14 points to trade at 26.98 at the close. Safran SA (EPA:SAF) declined 3.47% or 3.58 points to end at 99.60 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) was down 3.46% or 4.76 points to 132.94.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 2.52% to 23.99, Spie SA (EPA:SPIE) which was up 2.04% to settle at 23.02 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) which gained 1.14% to close at 20.39.
The worst performers were Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was down 5.12% to 164.10 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 4.78% to settle at 32.45 and Maisons du Monde SAS (EPA:MDM) which was down 4.23% to 15.63 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 380 to 180 and 79 ended unchanged.
Shares in Maisons du Monde SAS (EPA:MDM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.23% or 0.69 to 15.63.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 2.41% or 46.15 to $1,865.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.23% or 0.24 to hit $104.45 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.24 to trade at $106.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.65% at 103.63.
