France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.48%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.48% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.54%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP), which rose 0.46% or 0.85 points to trade at 184.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) added 0.40% or 0.04 points to end at 10.14 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) was down 0.11% or 0.03 points to 22.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 6.25% or 1.49 points to trade at 22.27 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 4.16% or 2.14 points to end at 49.26 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was down 3.68% or 2.54 points to 66.56.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which rose 3.60% to 16.11, ALD SA (EPA:ALDA) which was up 1.29% to settle at 11.00 and SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which gained 0.94% to close at 16.66.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 9.21% to 8.32 in late trade, Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which lost 6.42% to settle at 79.40 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was down 6.25% to 22.27 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 445 to 121 and 76 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.68% or 2.54 to 66.56.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.18% or 20.35 to $1,705.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.07% or 2.75 to hit $86.80 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.14% or 3.00 to trade at $92.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.19% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.98% at 109.72.
