France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.26%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.26%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.26%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI), which rose 2.96% or 2.46 points to trade at 85.66 at the close. Meanwhile, Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) added 2.95% or 1.06 points to end at 36.99 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) was up 2.06% or 0.50 points to 24.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 11.51% or 8.34 points to trade at 64.11 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) declined 3.47% or 6.40 points to end at 177.90 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was down 3.18% or 0.64 points to 19.46.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 16.87% to 11.71, Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was up 5.09% to settle at 47.93 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) which gained 2.96% to close at 85.66.
The worst performers were Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which was down 14.38% to 7.54 in late trade, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which lost 11.51% to settle at 64.11 and Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 9.82% to 24.52 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 346 to 193 and 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 14.38% or 1.26 to 7.54. Shares in Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.82% or 2.67 to 24.52.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.38% or 24.98 to $1,840.88 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.84% or 0.90 to hit $107.94 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.08% or 1.18 to trade at $110.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.21% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.01% at 102.81.
