France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.24%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.24% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV), which rose 1.67% or 0.19 points to trade at 11.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) added 1.17% or 0.26 points to end at 22.41 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was up 0.42% or 0.05 points to 11.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 4.36% or 1.23 points to trade at 26.89 at the close. Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) declined 3.72% or 3.96 points to end at 102.58 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) was down 2.42% or 4.80 points to 193.55.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which rose 8.93% to 46.61, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was up 6.05% to settle at 25.59 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which gained 5.83% to close at 94.74.
The worst performers were Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which was down 4.50% to 184.70 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which lost 4.36% to settle at 26.89 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 3.99% to 20.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 341 to 211 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.42% or 0.05 to 11.50. Shares in Faurecia (EPA:EPED) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.99% or 0.84 to 20.20.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.09% or 1.75 to $1,868.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 4.56% or 4.67 to hit $107.08 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 4.26% or 4.47 to trade at $109.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 103.33.
