France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.73%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.73%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV), which rose 1.61% or 0.15 points to trade at 9.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) added 1.14% or 2.05 points to end at 181.55 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) was up 0.82% or 0.82 points to 101.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN), which fell 2.77% or 0.99 points to trade at 34.79 at the close. Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) declined 2.70% or 0.65 points to end at 23.45 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) was down 2.48% or 1.09 points to 42.73.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which rose 2.63% to 183.70, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was up 2.44% to settle at 138.35 and Valneva (EPA:VLS) which gained 2.20% to close at 10.23.
The worst performers were SES (EPA:SESFd) which was down 4.17% to 7.78 in late trade, Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which lost 3.92% to settle at 16.28 and Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM) which was down 3.88% to 143.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 295 to 211 and 122 ended unchanged.
Shares in BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.48% or 1.09 to 42.73.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.68% or 11.65 to $1,736.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.05% or 0.05 to hit $95.89 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.27 to trade at $99.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.46% to 1.01, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 107.58.
