France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.23%
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Gas & Water, General Financial and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.23%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.67% or 0.70 points to trade at 27.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) added 2.39% or 0.27 points to end at 11.63 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was up 1.84% or 2.10 points to 116.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN), which fell 2.20% or 0.81 points to trade at 36.04 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) declined 1.94% or 0.74 points to end at 37.15 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was down 1.85% or 0.43 points to 22.84.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which rose 4.84% to 12.57, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which was up 4.76% to settle at 18.92 and Covivio SA (EPA:CVO) which gained 2.93% to close at 66.65.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 19.09% to 9.65 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 9.22% to settle at 31.60 and Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which was down 3.65% to 16.23 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 286 to 265 and 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.84% or 0.58 to 12.57. Shares in Valneva (EPA:VLS) fell to 52-week lows; losing 19.09% or 2.28 to 9.65.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.35% or 6.25 to $1,814.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.34% or 2.54 to hit $111.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 1.95 to trade at $113.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 104.37.
