France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.72%
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.72% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 1.69%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP), which rose 8.58% or 14.65 points to trade at 185.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) added 7.49% or 93.00 points to end at 1,334.00 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was up 5.10% or 1.39 points to 28.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV), which fell 7.22% or 0.72 points to trade at 9.26 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 2.18% or 2.70 points to end at 121.35 and EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) was down 1.93% or 3.00 points to 152.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which rose 14.72% to 3.16, Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which was up 8.97% to settle at 31.72 and Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) which gained 8.58% to close at 185.35.
The worst performers were Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) which was down 7.22% to 9.26 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which lost 6.78% to settle at 14.99 and Ipsen SA (EPA:IPN) which was down 5.18% to 98.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 354 to 202 and 76 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.65% or 11.35 to $1,761.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.14% or 3.03 to hit $99.45 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.44% or 2.48 to trade at $104.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 105.92.
