France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.34%
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.34%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.32%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which rose 5.43% or 1.07 points to trade at 20.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 4.55% or 4.55 points to end at 104.46 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 2.76% or 1.28 points to 47.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST), which fell 3.66% or 1.60 points to trade at 41.97 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 2.89% or 1.08 points to end at 36.29 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was down 0.61% or 0.22 points to 35.03.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) which rose 5.49% to 69.60, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was up 5.43% to settle at 20.77 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which gained 5.37% to close at 1.01.
The worst performers were Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was down 5.87% to 353.00 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which lost 5.03% to settle at 373.70 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) which was down 3.66% to 41.97 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 296 to 239 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.55% or 4.55 to 104.46. Shares in Worldline SA (PA:WLN) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.89% or 1.08 to 36.29.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.21% or 4.10 to $1,941.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.78% or 0.75 to hit $96.78 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.64 to trade at $101.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 99.84.
