France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.72%
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.72%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX), which rose 3.27% or 5.30 points to trade at 167.25 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.94% or 0.87 points to end at 30.50 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) was up 2.68% or 33.50 points to 1,283.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which fell 1.50% or 0.52 points to trade at 34.16 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) declined 0.75% or 0.39 points to end at 51.90 and TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) was down 0.63% or 0.29 points to 46.69.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 9.90% to 16.76, ALD SA (EPA:ALDA) which was up 7.31% to settle at 12.62 and Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which gained 5.57% to close at 2.58.
The worst performers were Rubis SCA (EPA:RUBF) which was down 8.36% to 24.87 in late trade, Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which lost 5.36% to settle at 20.83 and Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was down 2.92% to 152.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 300 to 253 and 87 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.66% or 13.05 to $1,971.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.96% or 1.00 to hit $105.25 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 1.15 to trade at $109.93 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 100.42.
