France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.52%
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.52%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 6.07% or 1.45 points to trade at 25.33 at the close. Meanwhile, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 4.22% or 2.41 points to end at 59.56 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was up 3.45% or 1.02 points to 30.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which fell 8.18% or 7.81 points to trade at 87.67 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 1.33% or 1.65 points to end at 122.80 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was down 0.75% or 0.08 points to 10.11.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which rose 6.07% to 25.33, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was up 5.06% to settle at 11.95 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which gained 4.51% to close at 3.57.
The worst performers were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) which was down 8.18% to 87.67 in late trade, CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which lost 2.17% to settle at 0.86 and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was down 1.84% to 9.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 326 to 185 and 121 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 2.00 to $1,814.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.38% or 1.25 to hit $91.75 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.08% or 1.04 to trade at $97.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.12% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.30% at 104.88.
