France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.48%
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.48%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which rose 4.68% or 1.80 points to trade at 40.41 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 4.34% or 1.16 points to end at 28.04 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) was up 3.62% or 4.15 points to 118.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE), which fell 2.95% or 0.83 points to trade at 27.31 at the close. Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) declined 2.46% or 0.28 points to end at 11.16 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was down 1.52% or 1.36 points to 88.08.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were BIC (EPA:BICP) which rose 7.67% to 53.75, Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was up 6.03% to settle at 140.60 and Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which gained 5.03% to close at 33.19.
The worst performers were Ipsen SA (EPA:IPN) which was down 12.36% to 96.40 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which lost 5.68% to settle at 17.18 and Metropole Television SA (EPA:MMTP) which was down 3.49% to 17.72 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 333 to 226 and 81 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.84% or 15.95 to $1,888.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.80% or 0.81 to hit $100.89 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.64 to trade at $103.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 102.89.
