Budrigannews.com – Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, said on Tuesday that she will run for president in the Republican party in 2024. This puts her in conflict with Donald Trump, who used to be her boss and is now running for president again.
In a video that her team distributed via email, Haley stated, “I’m Nikki Haley and I’m running for president.”
In a speech on Wednesday in Charleston, South Carolina, Haley, a former governor of South Carolina who was Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations, will outline her plans for the campaign.
In a Republican field that is anticipated to expand in the coming weeks and months, she became Trump’s first direct challenger.
Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, the former vice president Mike Pence, U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, and the former governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, among others, are among the other prominent Republicans who are considering running for office in 2024.
According to Haley’s statement in her video, “It’s time for a new generation of leadership – to rediscover fiscal responsibility, secure our border, and strengthen our country, our pride, and our purpose.”
She also referred to her prior work in foreign policy.
“Russia and China are marching ahead. All of them believe we can be bullied and kicked. I should tell you this about myself: Bullies don’t get along with me. She continued, “And if you’re wearing heels, it hurts them more when you kick back.”
