FBI found new classified documents in Pence’s home

Budrigannews.com – Following the discovery of classified documents at the residence of former Vice President Mike Pence last month, a spokesman for Pence stated that during a consensual search that took place on Friday at the Indianapolis residence of Pence, the FBI discovered one additional government page containing markings that indicated they were classified.
A Justice Department official confirmed the search earlier in the day after Pence’s attorney Greg Jacobs informed the National Archives in a letter on January 18 of the discovery of records with classified markings. After that, the records were given to the FBI.
His spokesperson, Devin O’Malley, stated, “Pence and his legal team have fully cooperated with the appropriate authorities.”
“Six additional pages without such markings that were not discovered in the initial review by the vice president’s counsel” were also recovered by the FBI, in addition to the one page with classified markings.
During the search, neither Pence nor his wife were present, but a member of his legal team was, and the Justice Department was granted full access to the residence.
Earlier in the day, a large number of media outlets gathered outside the house while the search continued, and footage from ABC News showed a police car preventing access to Pence’s driveway.
The search of Pence’s house comes as two special counsels are looking into whether or not President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump kept classified records.
After Trump left the White House in January 2021, Special Counsel Jack Smith is looking into whether or not he or his associates obstructed the Justice Department’s investigation into his retention of thousands of government records, some of which were marked as classified.
On August 8, the FBI carried out a court-approved search of Trump’s Florida estate, resulting in the collection of approximately 13,000 records, of which approximately 100 contained classified markings.
Separately, Special Counsel Robert Hur was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in January following the announcement by Biden’s legal team that they had discovered classified documents in November at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, a think tank at the University of Pennsylvania. After serving as vice president under Barack Obama and prior to his election as president, Biden had an office there.
Biden’s Wilmington home has also been the site of additional records since then.
This month, a third search of Biden’s beach house in Delaware did not uncover any additional documents.
