EU and U. S. try to reach agreement on technology deal-FT
By Ray Johnson
Budrigannews.com – The Financial Times reported on Friday that U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm stated that talks were taking place between the United States and the European Union regarding a clean technology free trade agreement.
We don’t want any competition in the trade. In addition, Granholm stated in an interview with the Financial Times that “we’re in discussion with our EU counterparts about how to ensure we can do this in a way that lifts all.”
According to the FT, Granholm stated that the United States was attempting to establish a “backbone” of manufacturing in order to end decades of deindustrialization and reduce its reliance on China.
The announcement by the European Commission on Thursday that EU businesses can receive as much government funding as from a U.S. green energy subsidy package prompted the publication of this report.
