Ericsson and Apple completed court with a deal
Budrigannews.com – On Friday, Ericsson announced that it had reached a global license agreement with Apple (NASDAQ:), putting an end to a dispute regarding royalties for the use of 5G wireless patents in iPhones.
The multi-year agreement, according to the Swedish manufacturer of telecom equipment, provided certain additional patent rights and included global cross-licensing for patented cellular standard-essential technologies.
In a statement, it stated, “The settlement ends all ongoing patent-related legal disputes between the parties.”
After Ericsson, the deal (BS:) filed a second set of patent infringement lawsuits against the iPhone maker in the United States in January.
When negotiations to renew a seven-year licensing contract for telecoms patents that had been first struck in 2015 failed, both businesses had already filed lawsuits against each other in the United States.

Ericsson sued first in October 2021, asserting that Apple was attempting to inappropriately chop down the eminence rates. The Swedish company was then accused of using “strong-arm tactics” to renew patents, and the iPhone maker filed a lawsuit against them in December 2021.
Including the effects of the settlement and ongoing intellectual property rights (IPR) business with all other licensees, Ericsson predicted intellectual property rights (IPR) licensing revenues of 5.5 billion to 5.0 billion Swedish crowns ($530.3 million to $578.5 million) for the fourth quarter.
