Elon Musk should better protect Twitter user data-Republicans

Budrigannews.com – Top Senate Conservative Hurl Grassley encouraged Elon Musk, who as of late gained Twitter, to lead a danger evaluation at the social organization to more readily safeguard U.S. client information, circling back to worries raised by an informant.

In September, the whistleblower hacker Peiter “Mudge” Zatko testified that some Twitter employees were concerned that the Chinese government would be able to collect data on the company’s users. Zatko was the head of security at Twitter until he was fired in January.

The top Republican on the U.S. Judiciary Committee, Grassley, requested Twitter to conduct a threat assessment “of Twitter’s current security posture and systems to better protect user data and privacy” in a letter to Musk dated Tuesday and published on Wednesday. He additionally requested the board of trustees staff to be informed on the discoveries.

Twitter gathers a lot of information about American citizens.”Grassley wrote that Americans have a vested interest in ensuring that the companies they have entrusted with their private data have not been infiltrated by foreign agents and that their private data is secure.”

When asked for comment, Twitter did not immediately respond.

Zatko testified that, among other risks, a foreign agent could use malware to steal personal information from Twitter users and use that information to access sensitive phone data.

The concerns that Grassley and Democrat Dick Durbin had expressed in a September letter to former chief executive Parag Agrawal, who led the company until October, when Musk bought it for $44 billion, were reiterated in the correspondence.

Agrawal did not respond to the letter, Grassley claims, citing a dispute with Musk.
