Economic model of Israel main thing for new Finance Minister

Budrigannews.com – The incoming finance minister of Israel stated that his economic strategy will incorporate religious principles outlined in the Torah and will contribute to the country’s prosperity.

The head of the far-right Religious Zionism party, Bezalel Smotrich, said that as finance minister he would look into the inner workings of the economy deeply. However, if we take a step back, the Torah – the first five books of the Hebrew Bible – say that obeying God leads to prosperity.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister-designate, selected Smotrich for the position of finance minister for a period of two years. The ultra-Orthodox party leader Aryeh Deri will then take his place.

Following his victory in the election on November 1, Netanyahu obtained a parliamentary majority on Thursday, but he has yet to finalize the agreements for the coalition. A temporary government remains in place until he does.

Smotrich is more well-known for his hardline politics than for his economic views, which are described as fiscally conservative in the platform of his party.

In an interview with the ultra-Orthodox magazine Mishpacha, he discussed his strategy. Israel’s Channel 12 broadcast portions of the interview.

“Are you sure they tried a lot of economic theories? They tried socialism and capitalism. They did not attempt one thing: “if you obey,” Smotrich said, referring to Jewish scripture that tells people to do what God tells them to do.

According to Smotrich, those who have faith, including himself, believe that “the Lord will grant us great abundance” if “Israel promotes more Torah, more Judaism, more of the commandment to settle the land, more kindness and solidarity.”
