ECB demands to increase UniCredit’s capital-Bloomberg
Budrigannews.com – Bloomberg News reported on Friday that UniCredit SpA may face increased capital requirements next year as the European Central Bank (ECB) tries to ensure the Italian bank’s resilience against risks from Russia’s war in Ukraine and the economic downturn.
According to the report, which cited sources, the ECB has informed UniCredit that it is considering raising the company’s so-called Pillar 2 requirement, which is currently set at 1.75 percent.
The ECB and UniCredit declined to comment.
The Bloomberg report also stated that the annual risk review of the central bank should be completed as soon as next week and that UniCredit had not received any formal communication regarding the capital requirement decision.
