Budrigannews.com – According to police, two missing New York boys have been discovered dead in Manhattan’s various rivers.
Authorities believe that Alfa Barrie, 11, and Garrett Warren, 13, were friends. They were last seen together in Harlem sometime between May 12 and May 13, according to police at a news conference on Tuesday.
The New York Police Division’s Harbor Unit tracked down the assortments of the young men a few days separated. According to a CNN spokesperson, they were discovered in two distinct rivers, more than two miles apart.
Garrett was discovered in the Harlem River on Thursday, close to the Madison Avenue Bridge, which connects Manhattan and the Bronx. After two days, police found Alfa’s body in the Hudson Waterway close to the Upper West Side, as per the NYPD representative.
Deputy Chief Brian Gill stated at the news conference on Tuesday that surveillance video last showed the boys leaving a home together and traveling past a large group of people.
Alfa was accounted for missing in the early morning of May 14, and Garrett was accounted for missing in the early evening of May 15, police say.
The boys were thought to be friends despite attending separate schools, according to authorities, who linked the two cases after Garrett was reported missing.
The NYPD said the examinations concerning the young men’s demises stays progressing. The New York City clinical inspector is researching a reason for death for both young men, a NYPD representative said.
After Alfa’s body was discovered, family and friends gathered at a mosque in the Bronx, according to ABC 7 of CNN.
Adhmadou Diallo, a friend of the family, said that the boy helped out at home and was close to his mother.
According to Diallo, who spoke with the publication, “every time he gives his mommy a goodbye kiss when going to school – and that’s what happened on Friday when he left.”
ABC 7 detailed Alfa was a 6th grade understudy at A majority rules government Prep State funded School in Harlem, which made an announcement grieving the deficiency of the “entertaining, splendid, clever, curious, and valiant kid.”
The school stated, “He will be sorely missed by his teachers and fellow students.” We also offer our support to Alfa’s friend Garrett Warren’s family. Even though he was not a student, we recognize that this is a trying time for his community as well and pray for them.
