PRAGUE (Reuters) – Czech Finance Minister Zbynek Stanjura has proposed lifting the 2022 budget deficit target to 326.9 billion crowns ($13.59 billion), from an approved plan of 280 billion crowns, Czech Television reported on Monday, citing an internal document.
The Finance Ministry has sought to raise this year’s deficit plans as it sees higher spending to ease the burden of surging energy prices and also the costs of the war in Ukraine, and the government is due to discuss the budget amendment this week.
