Court sentenced accused for truck attack in Nice 2016
Budrigannews.com – Tuesday, a French court found seven men and one woman guilty of their roles in the 2016 truck rampage that killed 86 people in the southern city of Nice.
After causing devastation and chaos on a two-kilometer (1.2-mile) stretch of Nice’s seaside boulevard, where families were celebrating Bastille Day, France’s national holiday, attacker Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel was shot dead by police on the spot.

The main defendant and friend of Bouhlel, Mohamed Ghraieb, was found guilty by a Paris court of belonging to a terrorist organization. He received a sentence of 18 years in prison.
Chokri Chafroud and Ramzi Arefa, two other prominent defendants who had been accused of assisting Bouhlel in obtaining the truck and weapons, were also found guilty by the judges of belonging to a terrorist organization. They received 18 and 12 years in prison, respectively.
Five additional people received sentences ranging from two to eight years.
None of the respondents was blamed for participating in the assault or even of complicity – a choice which survivors said they were battling with.
A few days after the attack in Nice, Islamic State claimed responsibility but provided no evidence that the assailant, who had a history of domestic violence and petty crime, had been in direct contact with the group.
