Coronation of King Charles causes discontent in UK society

Budrigannews.com – The coronation of King Charles in May, according to British anti-monarchists, will be “a slap in the face” for most people struggling with high inflation, they said on Sunday.
According to the campaign group Republic, it had been in touch with the police in London regarding its plans to hold a peaceful demonstration in Parliament Square, which is viewed from Westminster Abbey, the site of the inauguration of British monarchs.
Graham Smith, Republic’s chief executive, stated, “The coronation is a celebration of hereditary power and privilege; it has no place in a modern society.”
“This pointless piece of theater is a slap in the face for millions of people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis at a cost of tens of millions of pounds.”
According to a statement released on Saturday by Buckingham Palace, the coronation will be marked by street parties, light shows, processions, a concert at Windsor Castle, and community volunteering.
After his mother, Queen Elizabeth, passed away in September, Charles, then 74, became king. On May 6, the coronation will take place.
The majority of Britons support the monarchy, according to polls, but the Republic claimed that support was at a “slow puncture.”
