Colombia to buy Venezuela’s minamers-Ministry of Finance
Budrigannews.com – While fertilizer prices have contributed to rising inflation, Finance Minister Jose Andrei Ocampo said on Wednesday that Colombia may have a desire to buy Venezuelan fertilizer producer Monomeros in Venezuela.
Peciven, a division of the state oil and gas company PDVSA, owns the headquarters of Monomeros in Colombia Barranquilia.
The board of directors of Monomero was restored by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday September, after it had been under the control of opposition leader Juan Guido for several years.
At a meeting of coffee market farmers in Bogota (Colombia), Ocampo said: “As for fertilizers, we are ready for everything, and here, where we are, to buy Monomeros, and significantly expand production.”
After Colombian President Gustafo Petro was elected President of Venezuela, Venezuela’s relations with Colombia have become more improved, especially on economic and military cooperation. This is due to a recent change in the Monomeros manual.
Ocampo said that the Ministry of Mines and Energy would say that Colombian reserves have increased from 8 to 20 years in eight years.
Ocampo said: “This allows us to become a huge gas exporter, even a fertilizer producer – we have never been.”
