Colombia arrests suspects in prosecutor’s murder

Budrigannews.com – The Colombian prosecutor’s office announced on Sunday that two additional individuals have been arrested in connection with the slaying of a Paraguayan prosecutor in May.
On the island of Baru, close to the Caribbean city of Cartagena, 45-year-old prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, who was known for fighting organized crime, was shot to death while on honeymoon with his wife.
In Colombia, four people have already been imprisoned for his murder, and in December, a man was arrested in Venezeula.
According to a statement released by the prosecutor’s office, the brothers Andres Perez and Ramon Perez are being accused of planning the murder’s logistics, including hiring hitmen for large sums of money.
The Colombian Attorney General Francisco Barbosa told reporters, “It appears that these two people were the ones who were in charge of the logistics, which made the criminal act possible.”
The prosecutor’s office added in a statement that documents, clothing, and a car that had been used to plan the murder were seized by officials.
