Budrigannews.com – Zhuzhou Rubber Research & Design Institute, a weather balloon manufacturer in China, asserted that it was not a military company and had no connection to the American-shot down balloon earlier this month.
“It is primarily engaged in manufacturing sounding balloons of natural latex in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations,” according to Zhuzhou Rubber, a division of the Chinese state chemical giant ChemChina.
In a statement that was published on ChemChina’s website, the company stated, “Our products are used for daily weather forecasting by weather stations, and do NOT have any connection with the so-called and reported U.S. balloon incident.”
A government spy vessel that Beijing denies was a Chinese surveillance balloon flew over the United States and Canada for a week before being shot down off the Atlantic Coast on orders from U.S. President Joe Biden.
China has criticized the United States’ handling of the balloon incident, calling it “hysterical” and “absurd.”
According to a statement issued last year by the country’s regulator of state-owned businesses, Zhuzhou Rubber is the dominant manufacturer of weather balloons in China. The company produces 75% of the high-altitude balloons utilized by the China Meteorological Administration.
