Chinese fighter intercepted American plane in sky
Budrigannews.com – A Chinese military plane went in close vicinity to 10 feet (3 meters) of a U.S. flying corps airplane in the challenged South China Ocean last week and constrained it to take equivocal moves to keep away from a crash in worldwide airspace, the U.S. military said on Thursday.
The close encounter occurred after what the United States described as a recent pattern of increasingly risky behavior on the part of Chinese military aircraft.
The occurrence, which included a Chinese Naval force J-11 contender fly and a U.S. aviation based armed forces RC-135 airplanes, occurred on Dec. 21, the U.S. military said in an explanation.
It went on to say, “We expect all countries in the Indo-Pacific region to use international airspace in a safe and legal manner.”
According to a spokesperson for the U.S. military, the Chinese plane came within 10 feet of the plane’s wing but 20 feet of its nose, prompting the American aircraft to perform evasive maneuvers.
A different official from the United States stated that the issue has been brought up with the Chinese government.
A request for clarification was made, but the Chinese embassy in Washington, D.C., did not immediately respond.
China has previously stated that the United States’ deployment of aircraft and ships into the South China Sea is detrimental to peace.
Regularly, planes and ships from the U.S. military travel through the region to conduct surveillance.
China claims vast swaths of the South China Sea that overlap with Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines’ exclusive economic zones.
The waterway, which also contains abundant fishing grounds and gas fields, is the route through which annual trade flows in the trillions of dollars.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin talked about the need to improve crisis communications during a meeting in November with his Chinese counterpart. He also talked about what he called dangerous behavior by Chinese military planes.
U.S. military officials have long aimed to keep lines of communication open with their Chinese counterparts despite tensions between the two countries in order to avoid flare-ups or accidents.
A Chinese fighter plane dangerously intercepted an Australian military surveillance plane in the South China Sea in May, according to Australia’s defense department, who said the Chinese plane flew close to the RAAF aircraft and released a “bundle of chaff” containing small aluminum pieces that got into the Australian aircraft’s engine.
Canada’s military said in June that Chinese warplanes were harassing its patrol planes as they watched for sanctions evasions by North Korea, sometimes forcing Canadian planes to change their flight paths.
Relations between China and the United States have been tense, with disagreements arising over everything from China’s military activities in the South China Sea to Taiwan and its human rights record.

China was furious when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went to Taiwan in August because it was seen as an attempt by the United States to get involved in Taiwan’s internal affairs. Following that, China carried out military exercises close to the island.
Although the United States of America is obligated by law to provide Taiwan with the means to defend itself, the two countries do not have formal diplomatic ties.
